Generation Next’s Sparkle Award

The debut of Generation Next's Sparkle Award was presented last night to Cassandra Erin. Her work takes parts of letter, notes or doodles written and drawn by loved ones and reworks them into jewelry. Each piece is completely handmade in her St. Louis studio.

”It’s a nine step process,” says Cassie. "We don’t use engraving machines. Rather, we press the words, line art, footprints/handprints, etc. into the metal.”

The result is the exact handwriting of the person’s words and drawings of sentiment, humor and romance. Cassie is partners with her mother, Terri, and all pieces are in Argentium silver and 18K yellow gold, have a hand-wrought, old world, heirloom look with organic lines.

This is the debut of Cassandra Erin’s collection at a trade show, as well as the debut of Generation Next’s Sparkle Award. The award was created to honor one designer whose collection encompassed the following criteria:

DESIGN: Unique and cohesive look and feel

BRANDING: Strength of the story or message which differentiates them from the market

ASSORTMENT: Diversity or breadth of product including merchandising mix and a range in price points

MARKETING: Ability and willingness to work with retailers on events/trunk shows and personal appearances. This also includes display concepts and a strong presence in social media and other promotional tools for retailers to help sell the collection

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING: Willingness to work with retailers and grow partnership based on both the designer and retailers needs.
